In all GUI products for Windows, MacOS, and Linux, an indicator has been introduced that shows the intensity of I/O operations. For example, in the Invantive Query Tool for Windows, there is a dot available at the top right:
The colour signals the intensity of I/O operations. It is possible to click through to view the underlying individual I/O operations such as:
In the example above, it can be seen that multiple partitions on Exact Online are being read simultaneously. During the “red” period, five partitions were read simultaneously, and later it dropped back to one partition.
Through the context menu, if Invantive UniversalSQL is the source of the I/O operation, the statement can be requested, as well as the associated I/O operations:
In the example above, all API calls to Exact Online can be seen, but it works identically for ActiveCampaign, AFAS, Twinfield, and other platforms.
Colours
The five areas in the graph are the same as those of the dot:
- green: quiet, up to 20% of the time occupied by I/O traffic;
- yellow: occasional traffic, up to 50%;
- orange: continuously busy or slightly parallel, from 50% to 200%;
- red: two to five parallel calls in progress simultaneously;
- black: more than five parallel calls active simultaneously.
Availability
The new functionality is available from release 27.0.
