Simplify log on using favorites and recently used databases

Selecting a database used to mean expanding the tree and searching for the needed database.

Starting 27.0 and releated 26.1 BETA-releases, the log on screen now remembers the databases you actually use.

Graphical products

Every database provides a star on the left. It is half visible until you point at the database; click it to pin the database as a favorite. Two groups then appear at the top of the tree:

  • Favorites: the databases pinned (at most 25).
  • Recently used: databases connected to before, most recent first. Filled automatically after every successful connection, so it works without pinning anything (at most 10).

A database can be listed three times: once under its own group, once as a favorite and once as recently used. Selecting either connects to the database.

Invantive Data Hub

The log-on menu has a new option F:

  • F lists your favorites and recently used databases.
  • The numbers are the same as in the ? list, so entering 1 connects.
  • +n pins the database with number n, -n removes it from your favorites.
  • Every favorite gets a short alias, shown as @name. Entering @accountingnl connects straight away.
