Repositioning Twinfield driver: now only available with Enterprise subscription

Go to Dutch version

Twinfield announced today (30 July 2025) that it will charge partners for the use of its APIs.

Twinfield is shifting its revenue model for API use significantly towards paid use per administration and per data traffic, without protection against cost explosions. This makes it unsuitable for unlimited use in cheap or free subscription forms. As a result, Invantive will likely restrict Twinfield access to more expensive subscriptions and possibly introduce technical measures to limit data traffic. It is possible that further, as yet unidentified restrictions will be imposed on the use of Twinfield.

The costs for Twinfield API usage consist of costs for accessing an administration as of 1 September 2025 and for data traffic as of 1 November 2025. In the course of 2026, Twinfield expects to implement improvements to limit data traffic.

Twinfield Office (Company) Costs

There are costs for Invantive per office (company) accessed. This can be reading or writing.

The costs are charged once per quarter to Invantive and are later than the monthly invoicing frequency of Invantive.

Bandwidth Costs

In addition, Twinfield will now charge partners such as Invantive for data usage. Costs will be charged above the Fair Use Policy of 50 MB per administration per month.

Twinfield’s Fair Use Policy differs slightly from Invantive’s Fair Use Policy:

  • With Twinfield, it is possible to retrieve more data after reaching the Fair Use Policy data limit of 50 MB, while Invantive’s Fair Use Policy makes further use impossible for the rest of the day.
  • Twinfield’s Fair Use Policy results in additional costs for the partner (Invantive), which are passed on as a surcharge.
  • The Twinfield Fair Use Policy is approximately 1500 MB per month, while the Invantive Fair Use Policy for most subscriptions is above 120 GB and often above 1200 GB uncompressed.
  • The Twinfield Fair Use Policy is charged by Invantive, while there are no costs associated with the Invantive Fair Use Policy.

Limit

Twinfield currently does not offer partners any options to cap costs. Partners must therefore provide ‘carte blanche’.

Impact on Subscription

Twinfield could previously be used with various subscription types, such as:

  • Consultancy subscription
  • Educational
  • OEM
  • Invantive Office
  • Invantive Premium
  • Data Hub
  • Trials

Invantive is currently studying how it wants to deal with the changes. Invantive sees the change in the pricing structure as a major change in the driver, partly due to the carte blanche to be granted.

It is expected that Twinfield will only be offered with Office Premium. It is not known how bandwidth usage will be handled.

As of 1 August, Twinfield will no longer be available with the following free subscription types. We recommend switching to a paid subscription for use with Twinfield:

  • Consultancy
  • Educational
  • ANBI
  • Free
  • Legacy

As of 1 September 2025, Twinfield will no longer be available with the following subscription types:

  • Office for Entrepreneurs
  • Office for Entrepreneurs with Accountancy subscription
  • Finance Premium
  • Finance Premium 2

OEM partners will be contacted.

Invantive reserves the right to modify the usage options of the new Twinfield structure without further notice in order to prevent Invantive’s costs from rising significantly.

Timelines

Twinfield announced this change to us on 30 July 2025, with an effective date of 1 September 2025. Given the short notice and significant impact, we are informing all affected users immediately by email.

We apologise for the limited preparation time; this announcement was also unexpected for us. We are working hard on solutions and will provide you with further information as soon as possible.

Update 31 July 2025

According to the latest information from Twinfield, charging for usage above the Fair Use Policy will not take effect on 1 November 2025, but later than the year 2025.

Update August 1

Twinfield informed there will be no limitations on bandwidth. They will only enter into discussions with a limited number of partners regarding the intensity of use somewhere in 2026.
