More security for your data: Invantive recommends Proton Authenticator for 2FA

Go to Dutch version

Invantive recommends the use of Proton Authenticator as an authenticator app for two-factor authentication (2FA) instead of apps such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Twilio Authy.

For solely two-factor authentication, Proton Authenticator is an alternative, available on iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS and Linux.

In case password management is also needed, the recommended alternative is Proton Pass. Proton Pass is available on Windows, iOS, Android, MacOS, Linux and in the browser for business and personal use.

Digital sovereignty

The main reason is that Google, Microsoft and Twilio are under U.S. jurisdiction. With the departure of the U.S. government from the international legal order, confidence in reliable and rule-of-law handling of personal data has declined. This increases the risk that access to sensitive information could fall outside EU regulations or become subject to unwanted interference.

Proton Authenticator was developed by the Swiss company behind Proton Mail, known for its focus on privacy, open source and security within the legal framework of Switzerland - a country with strong privacy laws and outside U.S. influence.

By using Proton Authenticator for 2FA (including TOTP codes), security keys and accounts remain better protected against geopolitical risks while maintaining an equivalent user experience.

Within Invantive Cloud, only European-made 2FA products will be referenced from now on, including Proton Pass and Proton Authenticator.
