Performance Issues with Visma.net Data Refresh in Power BI

I’m reaching out due to frequent issues with extremely slow download times when refreshing our Power BI reports based on Visma.net.

The main bottleneck seems to be the JournalTransactionLines table, which often gets stuck with the message “Waiting for bridge online-cloud.” While refreshes occasionally complete within a few minutes, it’s more common for them to take 30-60 minutes-or fail entirely. Interestingly, another table, supplier invoices lines that also contains a lot of data may load much faster.

We’re a relatively small company, and our journal transaction lines dataset is only around 100MB, which we didn’t consider to be unusually large. Unfortunately, the current refresh performance is not acceptable for our reporting needs. If this cannot be resolved, we will need to consider alternative solutions.
I’d appreciate your input on how this can be improved.

Error message and tips per email

In addition, the Invantive Cloud user who has the error message will usually receive on his email address an email with an error message and tips if there is an error message in Power BI, Power Query, Azure Data Factory, Qlik or Tableau.

Advice is to check the affected user’s spam for such emails sent from support@invantive.com.

See attached screenshot.

But as you can see the Visma JournalTransactionLines view never completes. It just goes on and on, with the message “waiting for bridge online cloud”. The refresh preview of 1000 rows works fine. However I am not able to load the entire data set.

I am also reauthorized the database container, so that shouldnt be an issue.

Can we talk about this over Teams? I have struggled for some days now, and I urgently need to complete our financial reporting.

Update, the refresh was cancelled and I got these error messages in Power BI, but I am not sure what the root cause is.

The requests have all gone from memory by now. This problem might be related to a problem itgentmm007, but that can not be established at the moment.

It is recommended to retry the download. When it fails or succeeds, please update this topic.

I did a new refresh now a couple of times (without modifying anything), and everything appears to be working normally now.

I have previously done some steps to optimize the query, however I do need the data at this level of granularity.

Thanks for the support.

Thanks for the update.

In case it is related to the itgentmm007 error: for this an analysis and improvements are on their way. There are also currently issues with handling an increased volume of traffic. For this, changes have already been taken into production on the French datacenter of an European owner (the Amazon datacenter will not be used anymore for the frontend servers to improve digital sovereinity or compliance with GDPR; the remaining backend servers are also being migrated).

In case the problem resurfaces, please append to this topic or create a new one.

The problem is back. I am not able to refresh the data.
During monthly closing and financial reporting I need to be able to refresh the reports multiple times a day without spending a lot of time waiting for the refresh to complete, or not complete at all.

The refresh process appears to be very unreliable unfortunately, and I cant continue like this.

I am trying to refresh various Visma.net invantive cloud tables today, without any success. Not even able to refresh previews in Power BI.

Furthermore, Bridge online monitoring doesnt appear to to show the data requests like it did yesterday.

Can you include a screenshot of Bridge Online Monitoring?

Please check both instances (currently require manual action):

Sure, here’s a screenshot.

I also got this error message in Power BI:

There is a number of uncompleted requests, for example relating to journal transaction lines.

Are you not able to see the data I am seeing in Bridge Online?

Can we get a teams call where we resolve this issue asap? I have been struggling with this for several days.

So after struggling the entire day with multiple failed request, now I was suddenly able to successfully refresh the queries two times.

Great that the download succeeded!
