A number of the over 100 (cloud) platforms that can be accessed through Invantive UniversalSQL use specifications in the so-called “Swagger” or Open API format to provide a structured description of their capabilities.
One of the more frequent issues on such drivers is that the quality of these specifications is not always optimal.
Previously, Invantive UniversalSQL already offered a setting to fallback to an integrated and tested alternative description using the driver attribute swagger-specification-allowed-fallback, but this one needed to be manually activated.
Starting release 25.0.62, the fallback will be applied without further notice when a (cloud) platform no longer provides the specification.
In all cases studied over the last five years, this would have avoided down situations without any known negative consequences. Negative consequences are not expected to occur by this change, other than specification changes going unnoticed. This aligns Swagger-based platforms with all other cloud platforms in terms of methodology, so the negative consequences are on the same and accepted level.
